Morning Stackers, I was thinking about what industries AI will affect the most, well, what about the online gambling world? Could it turn the whole sector into a race to the bottom between punters and bookies?
Anyone can use AI tools to predict game outcomes with scary accuracy, these algos can spot patterns humans miss.
Is it giving them an edge? flippening the house advantage? you can analyze past games, team announcements and a friend of mine swears by it now and says it's not perfect obviously but it's quite accurate.
The bookies are probably or definitely running their own AI systems, not just to adjust odds in real time and stay one step ahead, but to detect these changing behaviours.
It could be a cat and mouse game where the house pours millions into AI to keep their edge, whereas the customers get free access to most AI platforms, with paid options being more accurate apparently.
But if customers were ever able to successfully win using AI on a consistent basis, I guarantee you that every single bookie would close their doors.
Which area do you think will get upset the most in the coming years?

I thought gambling was self regulating- the lines moves if AI/people start to bet too heavy on one side, and the bookie will make most of their money on fees?
