It's a fascinating memoir of Vilhjalmur Stefansson's life in the far north, mostly northern Canada, starting in 1906. He lived mostly with the native Eskimo, and learned from them all their techniques for hunting, shelter building, and traveling in -50°C temperatures. Stefansson spent a good amount of time with those Eskimo least touched by "civilization", including those that had copper tools - the "Copper Eskimo". He's a very matter-of-fact writer - even the most upsetting incidents, like when he almost dies while traveling on a sledge, or is cheated by someone he considered a friend, are treated very dispassionately.
Is this the guy who commented on meat only diets and stool? Lol weird question but I recall something like this from Twitter meat-only diet posts
Yes, absolutely! After doing years of meat only diets with the natives, in the Arctic, he was convinced that it was very healthy.
Also the book Not by Bread Alone by Vilhjalmu Stefansson (https://annas-archive.org/md5/eea8045a4edf89110ab195d48f77bd4e) is his chronicle of his year, spent eating only meat again, back when he was back in the US, and being examined in great detail by physicians at Bellevue Hospital. He did very well on it, except for the period where the doctors wanted him to eat only LEAN meat. During that period he felt miserable. And I can completely understand that, as a carnivore, because I can't stand eating lean meat. It's got to have a fair bit of fat on it.
