Nah it’s the human condition. Reading this book called Poor Economics and it clear that people sometimes can’t get out of their own way.
But I am hoping AGI can overcome the human condition especially when it comes to highly technical goods and services like health care and water access
AGI in the way the CEOs talk about it just means Sam Altman is the emperor and we all pay him. Then either we run out of money or barterable goods or skills, because Sam controls all the jobs and by then all the money and all the property too, or he gets bored. It's like an extinction level event if this were to happen the way these guys envision it, so I for one am super optimistic that there's no AGI in the foreseeable future. It gives humanity a chance to not be completely disrupted.
Also, I think that taking away incentives to actually do a good job is only going to make things worse, not better. So anything that's not happening now, will definitely not happen with AGI in the mix. Elon championing UBI because AI will take all the jobs? That's not a good outcome. It means life becomes meaningless.
