it is pretty awful. Our youngest was born a few months premature and the experience of dealing with the hospital during and after that was formative. 

The hospital billing system is legit f'd up.  There is no standard or justice at all.  Talked to someone who works in that industry, they basically say "Yeah a bunch of people don't pay so we overcharge the ones that do... if you don't pay there's really nothing we can do about it anyway"

The US medical system is deeply f'd up and immoral.

I spot checked by looking up its big findings myself and found it was right. I also had ChatGPT, to which I subscribed for one month just to do this, read the letter and fact check it. No notes.
