Me: learning how to take care of my handmade copper pans, handwashing with care, so that they don't get damaged and last longer.
People are paying a $499 monthly subscription for a Neorobot so that they can put whatever they use into the dishwasher.
Really not the same, but I guess you are what you use. 😮‍💨

Have you ever heard about Lion's mane (Hericium erinaceus)?
People who eat these mushrooms say it help clear their mind, increase sleap quality etc.
Never knew about this mushrooms and if I found it in the forest I'd try to avoid it, it looks too frightening

It definitely looks weird, although so much of nature does.
The name reminds me of a Sherlock Holmes story; one of the few written from his perspective, rather than Watson's. The first link is to Wikisource rather than Wikipedia to minimize the chance that spoilers ruin it for folks who want to read the actual story; if you prefer the summary, here's the Wikipedia article.

Every time you see someone mentioning words about "democracy", "democratic vote", "democratic system" etc you should remember this quote:
Since outright slavery has been discredited, democracy is the only remaining rationale for state compulsion that most people will accept. Democracy has proven only that the best way to gain power over people is to assure the people that they are ruling themselves. Once they believe that, they make wonderfully submissive slaves.

people have been duped into believing that the only form of slavery is thru shackles and bars; the more insidious form of slavery is free-range employment, like chickens on a farm (digital nomad-freelancers with a special IRS form); the deception is accomplished by propagating the message that if centralized mega-governments are dissolved, there shall be chaos in the streets; imagination is dead - people cannot imagine a free world without a ruling class;

Do you calculate electricity bills?
Is this ↓ information accurate?
FutureBit Apollo BTC: ~ 125 W in ECO mode and up to ~ 200 W in TURBO mode.
Braiins Mini Miner (BMM 101): ~ 35 W (some sources say ~40 W) at 1 TH/s.
BitAxe Ultra (another/related model in the BitAxe family): similarly ultra‐low, ~ 15–20 W (depending on version) reported.
FutureBit Apollo 2: The consumption is less precisely stated, but the documentation says the integrated power supply is 450 W and typical consumption around ~ 400 W for ~10 TH/s.

One student who has been giving me grief aplenty asked me in all sincerity, “So, cher, when we perspire and it disappears, right, it’s evaporate?”
He had only internalised the concept of evaporation recently. after his final-year exams, in fact. I could almost see his mental cogs churning.
I beamed brightly at him and said enthusiastically, “Yes!”
I feel like I have unlocked something in him.

Slogan for ChatGPT:
Enabling autism since 2022
reply
33 sats \ 0 replies \ @adlai 3h
I think calling that "autism" is a bit of a stretch, that's just harmless idle curiosity (from the prompter) and nitpicking from ChatGPT (because it has no choice in the matter after getting prompted).
If someone pastes that output as their own words, isn't that more them giving an example of Poe's Law than them actually being autistic?
