What electronic dance music (EDM) do y'all enjoy?

My passion before Bitcoin was EDM. I've been to festivals all over the US, and it's on my bucket list to go to Tomorrowland in Holland.

I've had stints where I've been obsessed with just about every subgenre of EDM at some point, but my favorites are the ones that give me the most energy, namely, Trap and Drum n Bass. I also really enjoy future bass and big room house.

My all time favorite artist is Skrillex. I also enjoy Zedd, Rezz, San Holo, LYNY, Knock 2, Juelz among many others.

I liked early dubstep when it sounded a bit like this: https://youtu.be/lcMAbnZy8l8

Had a harder dubstep phase but it got old fast.

Besides that, always liked trance, DnB type stuff but recently I've been stuck under the big Synthwave umbrella. My only rule is EDM needs no lyrics if I'm trying to work, otherwise anything goes if I'm on a drive or something.

Spotify recap last year let me know I'm in the top 1% of listeners for these: Gunship https://youtu.be/_Am18w4NrfQ

Lukhash https://youtu.be/lBJnKNSvBsE

Waveshaper https://youtu.be/Lqj0Fz5AJhw

You know, I just realized it's been a while since I read the acronym "EDM". I've been wondering if it's still the term du jour to refer to electronic music or if the fact that it's everywhere now means the acronym became too general for the younger crowd.

Thanks for the reply nichro! I remember that Skream track! 2010 was when I got introduced to dubstep while in college. Remember this one? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T3yPyc5ZdNs

I have not heard of any of the top 1% artists you mentioned, so I will check them out now!

I'm bad at remembering (most) artist names in the era of listening to playlists and algo, but I do!

Hmmm when I got back from LiB I was listening to EDM for a couple months afterward. It's been a minute though. I have the weird ability to like nearly anything. IIRC I was listening to house and John Summit a lot.

reply

nice. yeah, you can't go wrong with house. And John Summit is great. His career really exploded the last couple years

Tomorrowland ain't in the Netherlands, it's in Belgium! Ahahah. And it's super POP, ~lol! But they do have some sick techno DJs on the smaller stages.

You gotta hit up BOOM 2027

reply

ahhh!! haha you're right! IDK what made me type Holland lol. I've never heard of BOOM before, but that looks sick!!

reply

Sick is an understatement! It's seriously insane. It only goes down every two years, and tickets sell out in like two days, so you gotta be on your toes if you really wanna go.

reply

are you going this year?

reply

I can't make it. BOOM is set for July 18th to the 25th in 2027. That time of year is just impossible for me.

reply

Tomorrow land is in Belgium?

reply

yes. my bad hahah IDK what made me type Holland

Mcr-t was awesome to see at fusion fest a few years ago. I like Chicago footwork, juke, and ghetto house, so DJ rashad, DJ Manny, DJ slugo, traxman, teklife, etc
