Well, if a cashier says they accept bitcoin, I have to ask between on chain, liquid or lightning, to open up the right wallet? So at the very least the retail assistant should know the word to communicate?

I’m getting the impression that most places in the world that already use bitcoin as everyday money are almost exclusively doing it using (custodial) lightning. I’m pretty sure that question would actually confuse most bitcoiners anywhere at this point. I bet at this point that most folks that know the difference between bitcoin and L2s still aren’t using bitcoin as their primary currency.
