I did peruse the nostrapps website but was wondering if anyone had any recommendations. Currently I use primal, but would like to navigate nostr in this fashion on my phone, preferably through a native experience.

Nostr on mobile is dumb.
Mobile devices should be used only for 2 things:
- pay with LN wallets.
- answer desperate wife calls when house is on fire.
Nostr on mobile will:
- eat your battery in an instant
- make you blind
- distract you from real life and keep you busy with crap
- make you dependable of a spying device
Use nostr on desktop. The experience is much better and you can read relays notes not followers notes.
