USA cannot make things anymore. Certainly not at a price competitive on global markets. Because the extraordinary privilege of being the global reserve currency issuer has corrupted the US economy. Free money removes the incentives to earn. The US is addicted to its reserve currency status but that status cannot be sustained much longer as today China is the dominant productive economy. USA cannot even fall back on its military power- it cannot now fight any war of any significance without the rare earths that China produces. Game over. Trump is managing the decline of US empire. Most citizens are blissfully ignorant of the true situation. China has already won the trade war and the fall of the US petrodollar based empire is now almost inevitable.
