This week we visit the Big Tree in Redwood National and Sate Parks. The Redwood Parks are comprised of one national park and three state parks located along the coast of northern California. The park's size is about 139,000 acres and contains a large number of old-growth coastal redwoods. We were looking for a short and easy trail because we were on our Yosemite road trip during our visit and did not have much time to explore the park. The Big Tree sounded like an interesting spot and kids wanted to see how big really is the Big Tree, so that was where we picked our stop. The tree itself is only 100 meters from the parking lot. The surrounding trails were all paved and wheelchair accessible. We took the short walk from the parking lot towards the Big Tree and saw a ranger providing a guided tour to a group of teenagers and a few adults. It looked like a highschool field trip. When we reached the Big Tree, we were amazed by the enourmous height and circumfrance of the tree. After admiring the Big Tree and taking a few photos, we walked along the trail and explored the surrounding area for a short while before heading back to the car.
