Sabine pours cold water on my optimism on small nuke reactors.
She carefully points out the shrinking of the reactor still requires a tradeoff that includes increasing the enclosure to insulate the reaction and a higher enriched fuel to start the reaction .
The good news ? Politicians are excited about it with many projects planned across the globe.
A bunch of small projects running small nuclear reactors all over the place worldwide...what could possibly go wrong?

I see what you did there
small nuke reactors
The FUD always has to focus on companies that may or may not be scams, the technology itself is already well established. The US Navy has been using them since the 50's! The french navy since the 70's.
It's a purely political thing that these haven't either been open-sourced, or that every major coastal city doesn't have a few submarines plugged into the grid just off-shore.
higher enriched fuel
Not qualified to determine whether or not it's a scam, but OKLO claims their design uses spent fuel.
It's been public since 2021, and in the last year the market seems to be sniffing out that it might not be a scam. I took a flyer on it given the Los Alamos connection, glad I did.

Politics again I think is the biggest risk to investors and the public at large, the tech is already deployed in production but is intentionally not distributed. Broader distribution may well not have public benefit as the top priority, I could see the transferring of state IP into a private co that only insiders have early access to.
Naval application is just the first such example, but apparently the Army/DIU are sandbagging us too: https://www.army.mil/article/288903/army_announces_janus_program_for_next_generation_nuclear_energy
