pull down to refresh

The craziest part is that SN and Predyx don’t have any mechanism to mitigate this kind of abuse/manipulation. And apparently nobody cares! Long live anarchy, hahaha.

I'm disappointed nobody posted this meme already
reply
Ahahah, literally! Predyx (@Team_Predyx and @mega_dreamer) just straight-up ghosted it, and @k00b said he wasn't gonna change the code just because of a bet. But low-key, these zombie items could actually be a security hole because it's an attack on the SN, and it's free real estate!

it's an attack on the SN

A massive zombie items attack could, at the very least, pull off a DDoS.

You mean like if someone just keeps refreshing any page really fast for a while? That’d probably have the same effect, or maybe it would be even more effective, depending on the page that they are refreshing.
reply
you're just doing inserts into the database tables with those zombie items. That's a whole different thing.

You think inserting one item is more expensive for the db than doing many joins across many tables to view many items, like for a huge comment section?
(We added pagination for comments because @ken's contest did indeed turn out to be a problem.)
reply
I'm clueless about that. I know it's an attack vector we probably don't need to sweat right now, but just ignoring it and doing nothing? That ain't good. You really think we should just chill and leave it?
Bitcoin is people using Bitcoin, including SN;
Andreas: "every aspect of Bitcoin will be attacked... this will be a battle on all fronts... they're going to attack each other on the network... with DoS attacks... with hashrate... publicly, privately, anonymously... in every possible way and immediately; every bug in the software will get poked and then poked again, and if u try to fix it, u better write that code WELL, becuz if u put another bug in, that's gonna get poked too...
and then it becomes about who has the best software development team and how quickly they can maintain that code and keep uptime... no one has gone here before"

Maybe they care... perpetuating this scam. I told you... it's a (scam) club and you ain't in it. At this level, it doesn't even have any sense to zap anymore on SN... I will try also an experiment: I will zap ONLY those that are NOT using the horse and pistol.
reply
Good thing I didn’t waste even 1 sat on that scam. I’m not really into betting or gambling, I probably spend like 10€ a year on the EuroMillions! Hahaha.
In that experiment, how do you even know if the stacker has a horse and/or a gun if they’re hiding it?
reply

lottery is a scam and euromillions is like a tax on stupidity. don't feed the beast. 10€ in sats today will be generational wealth in few years.
stacker has a horse and/or a gun if they’re hiding it?
not sure if that could be hidden, only the cowboy hat can be hidden.
reply

I just tried it, and this option hides the horse and the gun. I think I read that this got changed in the last big update.
reply
I still see your horse. Edit: now is gone.
reply
I disabled the option again. Can you still see it now?
reply
ok, then no more zaps, or at least only to those I know they use CCs.
reply
If someone only has the hat, then you can be sure they don’t have a horse or a gun. Otherwise, there’s no way to know for sure.
