pull down to refresh

it's an attack on the SN
explain
A massive zombie items attack could, at the very least, pull off a DDoS.

You mean like if someone just keeps refreshing any page really fast for a while? That’d probably have the same effect, or maybe it would be even more effective, depending on the page that they are refreshing.
reply
you're just doing inserts into the database tables with those zombie items. That's a whole different thing.

You think inserting one item is more expensive for the db than doing many joins across many tables to view many items, like for a huge comment section?
(We added pagination for comments because @ken's contest did indeed turn out to be a problem.)
reply
I'm clueless about that. I know it's an attack vector we probably don't need to sweat right now, but just ignoring it and doing nothing? That ain't good. You really think we should just chill and leave it?

I don't work here anymore, remember? haha

That doesn't stop you from having a take, right?

Bitcoin is people using Bitcoin, including SN;
Andreas: "every aspect of Bitcoin will be attacked... this will be a battle on all fronts... they're going to attack each other on the network... with DoS attacks... with hashrate... publicly, privately, anonymously... in every possible way and immediately; every bug in the software will get poked and then poked again, and if u try to fix it, u better write that code WELL, becuz if u put another bug in, that's gonna get poked too...
and then it becomes about who has the best software development team and how quickly they can maintain that code and keep uptime... no one has gone here before"
