Calling all Bitcoin builders!

Leave a comment below to let the SN community know what you're working on this week. It doesn't matter how big or small your project is, or how much progress you've made.

Just share what you're up to, and let the community know if you want any feedback or help.

If you missed last week's thread, here are the updates SN users shared from all their latest work projects.

Not the week, but today, learned the basics of Nostr, linked my account here, and it seems to be awesome really.

Trying to find out more about Orbitals:

  • Casey Rodarmor leveraged Taproot to store fully on-chain NFT-like structures on Bitcoin. He came up with a NFT protocol called Ordinals.
  • The Ordinals protocol pairs NFT content with a Bitcoin transaction which is in turn assigned to an individual satoshi and comes with an unique serial number. Take note of the word “inscription” - it means assigning NFT-like content to a satoshi and will probably go viral soon.
  • Ordinals encourages the storage of JPEG-like images, PDFs, videos and audio files up to 4MB large. Detractors believe that these NFT-like structures will hog blockchain space, which leads to the increase in transaction fees.
  • The detractors may have valid concerns about the sustainability of Ordinals since Ordinals already occupy 50% of the blockchain
  • BTC supporters are divided into two camps. The first group are purists who believe that BTC should be solely used for financial transactions and that Ordinals deviate away from its original purpose of facilitating permissionless P2P transactions. The opposing camp, however, feels that various use cases should be embraced and integrated into the BTC blockchain.
  • Rock NFTs on Bitcoin blockchain seem to be selling like hot cakes.

Fighting shitcoiners 😂😂

I have a group of relatives teaching them (in person) about Bitcoin. Basic stuff for nocoiners. I hope in few days they will be real bitcoiners.

I finally got cl-megolm [0] working on my computer, so now I can start making an E2EE Nostr messaging app. My goal is for this app to compete with Signal/Telegram/etc.

[0] = a Common Lisp interface to Matrix's E2EE library

I'm refactoring SN's codebase some ... So far, I've increased code reuse in certain parts. I'd also like to establish some better patterns for adding new post types, but I'm not sure I'll be able to achieve that this week. There's also a handful of bugs I'll likely fix before eow.

I'm also spending some time writing about what I want SN to be eventually.

Very nice! And thanks!

After a productive round of testing, here on sn, and lots of interesting feedback about a month ago, im finishing and polishing ArtiSats.com. I've scrapped the the auction system (asks are now eternal) and i did a rewrite of the entire accounting system. When i'm back from vacation in a week i'll do another testing round and start buying some ads when everything runs well.

Trying like hell to understand and retain information from the bottom. As new as it gets earning and using, but was always paying attention. I could really use some help figuring out where I might fit in to the crypto world. I don’t want to play the fiat game anymore it’s a lie, knowing it only seems to hurt me though, if you don’t play it’s really hard to make it. I have a family to take care of, I’m hoping to make some honest friends this week and maybe get some honest answers!!
