Na, you miss the point. I don't want 1GB of data every 4 fucking years. Neither will anyone else in 4 years when you need to re-sync your node or anyone thats poor in the future and wants to start their own node. its Been 14 years and we are at 500GB. In 4 years we will add 1 GB if the blocks are constantly big close to 4MB.
We want the number of nodes to grow. They will start diminishing and getting centralized if the chain is getting 1GB bigger every 4 years. Imagine 4 years from now when someone in Nigeria needs to sync 1.5GB chain on a 200MB connection.. it will take them a month, maybe longer.. They wont be able to wait that long and guess what they will do..

Eventually every block WILL be 4mb. Full blocks means competition for fees. Higher fees means higher security budget.
About the 1GB every 4 years, I'm not sure that the maths adds up.. I get the point though, as a node runner, it's nice to fit it all on a 1 TB drive, and wait days (not months) to download it all.
From my perspective, trying to decide what should / shouldn't go on chain, by definition, is censorship. The correct way out of this is to price the "cloud storage" wackos out, by focusing on adoption (hence more tx), not in-fighting.

Its not about what should go on the chain.. whats meant to be on the chain is already on the damn chain. SATs!!!!

what do you mean the math doesnt add up.. its simple fucking arithmatic.. 6x4=24 24x24=576 576x365= 210,240MB... 210GB

210 x4 = 840GB basically 1TB

In the best case scenario, it will be 1GB of data every 4 years. So the question is that do you want to use some network other than Bitcoin?

Jesus christ you people
