I just joined Twitter. My mistake perhaps was listing LGBTQ in my bio, and mentioning Ordinal Theory there as well. I also mine, and am a programmer (not bitcoin related). I was listening to a Twitter spaces recently and was excited to get asked to go up onto the stage by a host who sounded polite. Upon accepting the invite and before my microphone even went live, I was verbally accosted and abused with every slur imaginable. In a foolhardy attempt to protect my dignity, I tried arguing back, but was drowned out by too many hostile phones.
Here's the worst part: over the last week I've been orange pilling some personal acquaintances of mine. They happened to be listening in on the space at the time with me. In a single day my follower count on Twitter (I just joined two days ago) went from 19 to where it is now—3.
I'm so fucking embarrassed dude. Like fuck. So I drank some good beer at least. Just licking the wounds. Wish people could revisit their worldviews every once in a decade.
Anyway, someone reached out and told me Stacker.News is probably the best signal and smartest crowd of hard but progressive bitcoiners so I joined the other day. Impressed so far.
Thanks for listening.
People can be horrible, especially when they can hide behind a pseudonym. Don't let them bring you down, and definitely don't give two shits about how many followers you have on Twitter.
Cheers, and hope your weekend is better.

Twitter is designed for toxicity

I'm so sorry for that horrible experience you had to go through. I can't imagine how you feel! 😕
You have my sympathy.

I personally have completely sworn off all centralised social networks, except this one, basically. idgaf if you have a kink if your heart is in the right place. I suppose it's gonna get harder as more come here but for now this is not a spam/troll fest. Hopefully the stacker admins will call for the right measures as this progresses.

People "other" each other on every possible dimension. Uniqueness is a curse among midwits.
Fortunately, Bitcoin loves us all the same.
