I wonder if it's a stupid idea (triggered by #136272), but what about integrating a light Nostr client in StackerNews, accessible through the tabs in the app's header?
  • It would only display the notes from registered StackerNews users who added their Nostr pubkeys
  • could be read-only or writable with a delegated privkey
  • Zap could be using the "native" StackerNews lightning wallet, and only for internal transactions between StackerNews users for now...
  • It would also be possible to automatically share or post a StackerNews link/post/comment directly to the user's Nostr relays (something I find myself doing more and more, manually)
Just a brainfart, so please ignore it if irrelevant :) It's not like @k00b and the team have time on their hands...
The nice thing about stacker news is that all the content can be indexed / is linkable, which is great for SEO etc.
It's also super FAST to navigate, I don't need to wait for a bunch of (massively duplicated) messages to arrive, taking up bandwidth and memory.
I don't get all this talk of migrating SN over to Nostr. What would be the benefit?
am not bashing Nostr but to me it serves a totally different use case to SN.

Agreed with how great stackernews is as an incentivized news aggregator. I don't want to migrate anything over to Nostr or replace any of the current experience... Just interconnect both, potentially opening stacker news to a new audience.
