I should be creating the full installer with wireguard, ufw, iptables configurations, but I'm exhausted so I'm taking a break... There was a lot of trial and error, but I'm at a resting point...
Unofficial Bounties of 1,000 sats for person who has the link to one of the original writeups dictating a configuration implementing wireguard VPN + reverse-proxy (they didn't call it that, but that's what it is. Sounds cool, because it is cool). #revengeofthenerds
I heard some things about what might be on a full bitcoin node, so I used a pruned one in the cloud.
Yes, I pay for 4 cores and 130 GB in the cloud. Found a steal black friday deal..
It took a week and a half to sync.
Minimal neeeded is probably around 40 GB, but another bounty to whoever knows. I'm not logging in right now, but last time i checked it was about 20 GB in use, at full capacity.
But I'd just say 100 GB for the experiment. I don't know what's optimal here, but it saves on a UPS and all that physical space and electricity requirement.
Gotcha 1: You require a stable node that never shuts down (on the pruned node (which is where you can put your wireguard VPN). You don't have to run this part in the cloud, but a UPS is required. Otherwise, you're stuck resyncing a node, if ever you don't have time to respond to an incident within 24 hours (which is doable with proper notifications and alerting software (which has yet to be developed)).
I used Mac mini with ARM technology (M4 chip - most efficient architecture), running on 3 cores VMWare. It could probably easily do this with 2 cores, potentially even 1.. LND baby!
Will Likely Post Technical Configurations and Install Steps later, with Comprehensive Wireguard and ufw (firewall) configurations. OR I may just make a comprehensive installer for everyone to run on their laptop.
Don't applaud me yet. I still have to build on top of THAT. Thank you stacker news for my emotional fuel and the inspiration, especially @DarthCoin
This thing is lightning speed with so little capital. Feel free to make this DarthCoin's next comprehensive official documentation of all technologies ever. These are historic times.
Quantum is proven wrong by telling a dog to bark 5 times. AI is reaching it's peak recognition for it's limitations.
Guess what technology is in line to get all the FUD funding..
I've got a kid telling me it's time to close my laptop.
I don't know if that's what you have in mind, but I've used this guide from Warren Togami in the past. Seems unmaintained though.
Not the one I was thinking of, which I believe had podman, which I also used. It's the right idea
This is the guide that gives you the best and complete walkthrough how to setup a LN node with a wireguard https://github.com/TrezorHannes/Dual-LND-Wireguard-VPS
There's no such thing as "click here button and will do all for you". As I said in many of my guides: if you want to run professionally a LN node, you MUST learn command line, network, security, finance, funds management.
I found this one in my bookmarks, though I remember reading an earlier article. But the last two times I had to configure this on a VPS I just asked duck.ai. If you have a general idea it will tell you the steps.
Where’s the easy button? (The installer)
