How about flipping the labels vertically?

i experimented with it and it's not as easy as saying it is

rotate(-90)

It's not bad, but determining when to flip is nontrivial

Three ways to go:

always rotate;
Trigger it only when there’s more than X outputs;
Run it when the text overflows the top bar—that’s the best call, but it’s complex (It is necessary to calculate the length of the string.);
Always keep it at 45 degrees;
