Even before this post, I was planning on doing this exercise.

I'm thinking about who I expect to do the most to help their team win on any given night based on what I've seen so far this season.

  1. Joker
  2. Wemby
  3. SGA
  4. Giannis
  5. Luka
  6. Cade
  7. Ant
  8. Steph
  9. Maxey
  10. Brown
  11. Brunson
  12. Sengun
  13. Mitchell

I still think Joker is in his own tier, but Wemby's closing in on it. Then, I have Shai-Ant as a tier, with Steph-Mitchell rounding out the guys who I think can potentially be the best player on a contender.

Having Cade, Ant, Steph, Brown above Brunson is a crime

reply

They all have much fuller games than Brunson. If a team can give him trouble scoring, he really doesn't do anything else.

I was also trying to think of a more narrow list of guys who I would most want in a big moment. For that I couldn't think of anyone other than Jokic who I want more.

reply

The offense is much more fluid under Mike Brown thus he can still impact the game with his play making. But his defense is definitely lacking. I saw Cade fog out in the playoffs against the Knicks.

reply

Maybe I’ll come around. I usually end the season higher on Brunson than I start.

reply

Everyone is better than Brunson till it’s time to beat him.

reply

Good point. I always had Jimmy higher than most people for exactly that reason.

reply

Ahh yes Jimmy Buckets

I didn't put Brown on my list because the Celtics are short Tatum and he wouldn't be the guy if Tatum was healthy but he has certainly played well enough this season. If I went beyond 10 I would definitely have had Curry and Sengun. Jalen Johnson has been unbelievable for the Hawks. I think he would be top 15 as well.

reply

Yeah, I wasn't sure where to put Johnson. The Hawks haven't looked very good when I've watched them, but he's obviously having a great season.

They really blew that game against the Bulls last night. I was following that pretty closesly because I wanted to see if I should lock Trae. Speaking of the Bulls, Giddey is having a great year.

reply

That's true. I didn't even think about Giddey. A lot of guys are playing great this season.

Yeah @jer's team has a bunch of guys that get 30-35 points routinely and make me depressed about my sad hogtown hoopers. If there isn't a turnaround in hogtown soon I may have to put Jokic on the trade block.

reply

I'm sure that would bring you quite a haul

KAT, Cade and Thompson for Jokic and ???

We could negotiate a trade on one of the episodes.

I'll try to come up with some options
