Is this what the leftists mean when they want to soak the rich to fund populist handouts? None of these new taxes will affect only the rich, they will fall on the poor as well. And yet Europeans are proud of their freebies?

Unfortunately many European countries need to hit the rock bottom Argentina-style before things start to change

And Argentina had to hit rock bottom a whole bunch of times

Not proud at all; entitled.

This is not very surprising, as the Belgian coalition government is led by a (to European standards) right-wing faction which historically has been favoring the rich, rather than the poor.

So, when you say "to European standards, right-wing faction", what you're saying is, by the European bloc's notoriously left-wing standards, the Belgian coalition government can be perceived to be positioned to the right of the left. So, it's a centrist member state, coalition government, and it's policy is, unsurprisingly representitive of a centrist government.

Exactly. In the same way Bernie Sanders is portrayed as a communist by some people, in Europe he'd be center right.
