OpenAI is discussing how advertising will look in ChatGPT. One option is to display sponsored products when a user is looking to buy something and consults with the chatbot.

Another option is pop-up messages relevant to queries, such as a link to a tour operator when a user is planning a trip.

The final solution hasn't been decided yet. They promise that advertising won't destroy the "trust" people have with ChatGPT.

Well, that's true in my case, because what doesn't exist can't be destroyed.

Right I use it all the time but still can’t trust. Ultimate anything I was gonna buy was something someone was selling anyways

When the tool is no longer useful I’ll stop using it!

Building on this OpenAI will need to treat relevance and quality as non negotiables because even one poor ad experience can make users question the integrity of the platform...
