This is going to be more personal, and balanced, than the raw-raw look-at-my-best-writing post. (#1400983)

...and throwing this here, in ~HealthAndFitness, to support the OG dog and because I've neglected posting here.

Today is the day for yearly reflections and summaries, so here we go.Today is the day for yearly reflections and summaries, so here we go.

I end the year about as wealthy (or not? #946539) as I was going into the year — thanks for nothing, bitcoin trash... some monetary revolution you are — though with about 20% more sats. A not insignificant portion of everything I own is tied up in a pension fund my local mafios force me to pay into (#1081555) and a guarantee deposit for living where I live. That's not ideal from a get-on-zero, bitcoin-maxi point of view, but it has my back (I guess?) should this revolution not work out.

Snapshot compare me today with NYE 2024, I'm definitely much more resentful and angry, much less tolerant of bullshit, and much less compassionate or kind — though both of those virtues are kind of bullshit. I'm less optimistic about the future but to echo Knut Svanholm once more, without Bitcoin (#1236935) I'd be way more blackpilled.

...and that explains a lot of contradictory internal behavior: never been as disillusioned by Bitcoin, the community.

Many (most?) of its public-facing personas — podcasters, writers, financiers — threw their hat in the ring on absolutely despicable Ponzi arrangements, preferring to play financial engineering games on bitcoin rather than building or enhancing the actual monetary asset...and quite a lot of those that refused went balls-deep into an irrelevant network-upgrade, proto-censorship attempt. Tl;dr, 2025 was basically the year bitcoin lost -- value and missed opportunity (see gold and silver) and credibility (see everyone lost their minds).

Between the Knotzies and the Saylor bois, I'm honestly not sure who was the most unbearable.Between the Knotzies and the Saylor bois, I'm honestly not sure who was the most unbearable.

Consequently, I envision myself being drawn away from this industry somewhat, writing more about general economics/money stuff than bitcoin-specific. Call me when you're winning, basically.

So, what's some promises/aspirations/resolutions for next year?

Or, you know, this: [see comment, bc apparently I can't get Nostr links to embed?]

We got all of the bullshit that comes with bull markets but none of the gains.

"never been as disillusioned by Bitcoin, the community"

x2. I was already disillusioned by my meatspace companions, now I experience the same happening with my semi-imaginary Internet friends & community, who I naively assumed to be more "awakened" to matters of life & death. Oh well.
