NYC Mayor Zorhan Mamdani's newly appointed tenant advocate called to "seize private property" and called home ownership a "weapon of white supremacy" in several posts on her now-deleted X account.
In December, she pushed to "Elect more communists" while a street in Harlem was being renamed after former communist Rep. Vito Marchantonio of Manhattan.
In May of 2020 she slammed law enforcement following the death of George Floyd, writing "The Police Are Just People The State Sanctions To Murder W[ith] Immunity."

My prediction is that this will mostly be nothing. Minor changes and mostly virtue signalling. He will fail to really make changes but his changes will also fail.

Most of the people that want socialism seem to me to be naive and childlike. Not in the good way. They seem to not realize that strong state police are required to enact what they claim to want.

The irony to me is that what they want isn't all bad, but what they claim to hate is actually more needed to bring about other things they want.

I agree. Some people are really terrified. NYC is home to the most powerful financial forces in the world. His little playground is meaningless. He will be squashed like a bug if it appears he will make any significant changes.

Fear, as you know is a powerful tool. This whole election of this guy is more interesting to me. It's clear the establishment democrats have lost a lot of faith from their people. Thing is, I don't think people that voted for this guy actually understand what would happen if he was able to do this stuff.

I view them and also the other side as spoiled brats that inherented a lot of awesome stuff they take for granted and a lot of terrible stuff they do not understand. They have attached themselves to demogogs that say things they wanna hear. Not what they need to hear.

Exactly. Back in the day, my fav counterparty in business always were New Yorkers because they would just call out bs to your face and have no patience for crap - kept my team on their toes. Has that died off now that most of the people I used to work with are retired and en masse moved to Scottsdale? Or have I seen a too small sample of New Yorkers?

I sympathize with the down-to-earth simplicity of the last statement. What I don't understand is how you can make that particular assessment yet call for more communists. That's kind of retarded.
