I think this is something the American people as a whole should be able to get behind and support. In particular his revised bill that held the money in escrow essentially doing the same thing that already happens to their staff and other federal workers who get back pay.
I am more than willing to die on the hill that part of the reason the shutdown ended was the complete and utter turmoil hitting Senate (and a lesser extent House) staff. DC is expensive as hell and Senate staff missed 3 paychecks.
Most of them are loaded too (the Congressmen, not the staff), so this should be a pretty easy win for Congress.
Yep! Sadly the Dems are not going to let it pass because somehow its wrong and classic punishment for thee but not for me.
Really? That seems like really poor optics.
The Republicans should all do it voluntarily during the next shutdown.
So some Members did try but were ordered by idk exactly who but legal authorities that they had to take the money due to the 27th Amendment.
I guess they could make a big show of putting their paper paychecks into a box or something and not taking them out until the end.
