Great review. I wonder where Metaxes got his source material. Did Bonhoeffer keep a detailed journal?

What would you do, when your country, your church, your people, your land, and your family are being overtaken by something you know is evil and wrong?

Such a poignant question. I know many people who feel that way in the present. More and more, I am able to identify with them. But the truth is, life isn't replete with world-shaking moments that can alter history. Most of us, we are dragged along, like a shopping-cart wheel with shoelace caught in its axel, by the mob, and never have much of an opportunity to stand up to it. We do, of course, have an impact on those closest to us. This is important. Small acts are important.

I will be adding this to my list. Thank you.

In the back of the book, he talks about meeting primary witnesses, or people who knew Bonhoeffer directly. He had a lot of letters that were found at one point, and it does not seem he kept much of a journal or if he did, I didn't see it mentioned as a source in this book.

Most people are side-quests in someone else's main story arc.

Did you get hitched yet?

We gotta hand it to all the sidekicks out there.

Thanks for asking. Not yet, but I'm enjoying the engagement. :)

Marriage is perhaps the greatest adventure to undertake. It is either the best decision or the worst investment. Little in between there.

ha-ha! I'll remember that.
