Today I had to pay somebody around 3000 dollars. The bill was denominated in dollars. I had in excess of 3000 dollars. I offered the dollars. The person said they don't take dollars. They insisted I go to the bank and pay the bank 10 dollars to send them a piece of paper called a cashier's check!

since i do not foresee dollar bills greater than $100 printed, money orders work quite well in the US and are a decent cash substitute; the limit is $1000 per order, 3 orders max per USPS location;
