Doesn't Segwit make batched transactions + Lightning channel opens... significantly cheaper?
It makes batched transactions (transactions with many inputs) considerably cheaper. Lightning channel funding transactions do not benefit from the witness discount any more than any other onchain payment. We have Simple Taproot Channels now, so mutual channel closures look and cost the same as a normal onchain payments.
My point is that if people are concerned about spam/data graffiti then by raising fees they get less graffiti.
That's assuming we don't get another irrational inscriptions hype that doesn't care about high fees. Keep in mind inscriptions have a 75% discount, so it's also not as easy to price them out.

If we want to scale Bitcoin eventually then we should just keep Segwit where it is IMO. Doesn't Segwit make batched transactions + Lightning channel opens... significantly cheaper? If Bitcoin is to be better adopted in the future... the extra blockspace/scaling (without changing anything currently) would be really helpful...
My point is that if people are concerned about spam/data graffiti then by raising fees they get less graffiti. Either you increase demand for blockspace... or decrease throughput
Way cleaner and less controversial than Knots/Bip alternatives being proposed today IMO
