Triggered me hard to check the Latin text. Today I found out that despite learning it in middle and high school, I am no longer proficient at all. May as well had saved myself 4 hours per week for 5 years.

One thing I do love about LLMs is that ancient texts are so much more accessible to non-experts now. There are a lot of sources where you can find ancient texts in their original languages, i.e. Google Books, but English translations are harder to come by. Especially for more obscure texts that aren't already widely known.

It does beg the question though, how much can we trust the LLMs?

For me, I'm willing to trust it for the simple task of translation, especially when it's mostly for entertainment purposes anyway.

And by working off a publicly available text and posting the translation publicly, anyone is also free to verify for themselves.

Don't trust, verify. Learn Latin.
