It's true everywhere. You almost always have a choice between: not doing something, doing something openly, trying to do it sneakily. If you want to be private, there are things you have to not do. Possibly things that you want.

For example: I'd like to talk to some of my old friends. To do that I will have to install Zuckware (Whatsapp.) I refuse to install Whatsapp. So if I want to talk to my friends, I have to make an appointment by email and go visit them. (not doing)

Another example: I really hate that people who pay me on-chain can track where I spend my sats. So I do something that is frowned upon by all the popo: I mix all my coins and I never spend from my mixed stack directly. ("sneaky")

Yet another example: I'm going through a round of interviews, to see if there is a company I'm willing to work for for a while. They're all going to need to do an extensive background check on me. If I want to work in any of these companies (not a given) I'll have to sacrifice privacy. (doing it openly)
