I was taking a look at this new thing from WoS and some questions arose. I would like to share with anyone who could help me in any way.

When generating a Self-Custody Wos, the WoS does not change the layout, it continues the same operability of sending and receiving LN and/or On Chain. I wrote down the address in LN email format and wrote down the on chain address that appears (only one appears at a time, not a list of public addresses derived from that seed). I deleted the wallet and tried to do the restoration. I noticed that I retrieved the same LN address and the same on chain address. Then I opened Ian Coleman and put the same seed and noticed that the tool returned no public address that matched what WoS shows. Next, I noticed that the WoS address starts with "bc1p" and not "bc1q", which is the native segwit format. I was in doubt about this pattern, as I don't know it.

How do I get the seed back if it's not with WoS, since I have the seed and custody?

Another question, which was not clear, WoS only holds LN balance, not On Chain. So much so that it swaps when receiving or sending an On Chain transaction (and quite expensive in my opinion). If it only holds LN balance, when I retrieve the seed on another compatible device or software, will I have my On Chain balance? This part of custody got a little confusing to me. Does anyone have any more information they can share?

WoS is another Spark scam. That is NOT self-custody.
You have been warned.

if you're warning about a scam, shouldn't you link something that explains the scam?

when you only give solid advice about good practices, and flame trolly memes on bad ones, people don't actually understand why the bad practices are wrong, and in some cases people might even tune you out as a "hater".

admittedly, one reason I have you unmuted is because you at least comment any disapproval, rather than silently downzapping.

  1. OP joined SN in 2023
  2. you joined in Aug 2025
  3. Me and other we were explaining so many times here on SN why Spark is a scam.
  4. If you do not pay attention to what is discussing here, is your loss, I don't have to repeat myself over and over. I am getting tired. So from 2023 and 2025 it was enough time for you guys to read and understand the scam. But you preferred to ignore it.
  5. Here is one of the best explanations: #1275977
  6. I comment instead of downzap so SS can downzap me until he empty his pockets. I will not waste my valuable sats on useless downzaps.
  7. When you read somebody's post or comment, I advise you to first look into his posting history. A lot of clues you will find out.

From 2023 until now i think I wrote thousands of posts and comments about wallets. Impossible for somebody not to see them.

emphasis mine; if you produce lots of good signal, then from the perspective of someone else, you've become your own noise ... you know your own posting history better than I do, and definitely have a better chance of rapidly finding the most relevant post or comment than I would by just going chronologically or sorting by zaprank.

SN bookmarks, or the browser bookmarks?

I've been using this computer for less than two years, and the bookmark list is already taller than my screen, even despite a majority of the toplevel items being folders; and there are folders, within the folders...

reply

I use both. I am not a that kind of user that is searching all the time on google.
I like to keep bookmarks, well organized.
I have bookmarks about Bitcoin from 2012...

organizing them properly is the key. I've been bookmarking [and sometimes also subscribe without any comment] in SN, and maybe soon will have enough accumulated to begin thinking about features for organizing / searching these within the site ... wouldn't that be a good way to procrastinate organizing the local folders?

gotcha, ty

We need to leave WoS behind and focus our time in real wallets, look into Zeus.
