Anything that is communicated in an unstructured manner is a security threat, especially towards vulns like prompt injection, whereas structured interfaces can be typed, sanitized, checked, programmatically transformed and efficiently stored. And they're much faster and consistent, available in the defacto standard OpenAI API, and frameworks like langchain have mature integrations for all kinds of processing around structured data.
