I'm positively unattached to bitcoin like I'm positively unattached to moneyI'm positively unattached to bitcoin like I'm positively unattached to money
What does that mean? I hope I can describe it.
The idea comes from the lyrics of this song:
In 2016, this was one of my favorite songs, but I hadn't paid much attention to the words then. When I listened back to it recently, these lyrics struck me in a kind of way. I thought the words accurately described me as I was 10 years ago, and maybe now:
Carelessly, you pass the hours
Humming songs you heard when you were young
Positively unattached
Naïve and unattracted to the buzz
Elated with your lack of interest
What a wonderful and different song
I think positively unattached means "I'm here but I don't expect anything."
It's kinda like that for me. A feeling I get often, one that motivates me so that I get it more and more, is the "I'm-just-happy-to-be-here" type of feeling.
That's how I feel about bitcoin. I like using it as money. I like knowing about it and following the people who work on it. Other than that, I have nothing to do with it. It's something that's here at the same time as me, and isn't that wonderful?
This can describe my relationship to money. I expect to get only a few things out of money, and most important on the list is my independence. The marriage of technology and money that is bitcoin - that's a force. That's where my interest in bitcoin comes from.
- It's important to me that I don't make attachments between my identity and the money I have.
- The more I stick around bitcoin, the more I find cool ways to express who I am through art.
- The technology is making it possible for me to do things that have nothing to do with the money.
Do you accept this as a fair position for an artist to take?
Everything is fair! And I'm glad that you're happy to "be here" - whatever "here" means to you.
Question:
Can you elaborate this point? Bitcoin "technology"? Is that LN or SN or the latest Breedlove podcast... or the community you find yourself in? What is it that makes it possible? The NgU? The people? The actual code? I found this very confusing - my apologies if I'm being retarded and "not getting it".
don’t worry that’s fair, I didn’t elaborate much bc I kinda want the point to fit in many cases
But for me, yeah it’s LN to sell my stuff instantly to a niche who wants it
yeah it’s SN bc I found an audience to resonate with that has only made me write more
It’s getting interested in adopting more technology like building my website that I probably would have never touched
It’s getting over a fear of tech automation in an idealogical way
It’s a lot!
I think that that's the nice thing about SN and the greater LN/Bitcoin ecosystem as a whole (as long as you manage to not be absorbed in the petty toxic wars), where there is a lot of application of tech going on by people from all walks of life. I don't think that 10 years ago I would have foreseen that we'd get so quickly into a situation where there are more than ubergeeks and uberscammers in the space. But there are now, and this is fantastic.
It probably also helps being surrounded by people like k00b and Car that have an open and positive mindset, and the people they attract in turn. Personally, I miss that lately. I'm sitting here in a barn converted into 4 (nice, modern) condos on the edge of a village in the literal middle of nowhere where I am (sparsely, very sparsely) surrounded by nocoiners. Rather conservative nocoiners too, so there's not much conversation to be had about exciting tech, or anything really. Different world. I do get to work in peace though, this I appreciate, but I'm really not an introvert: it's lonely. SN keeps me a bit in touch with the "reality" of exciting tech outside of the immense automation I have built for me. I've hinted at it before, but I guess it's real: I'm a Solarian in a corner of the world where the Luddites rule, haha.
So I do get what you're saying. I know how exciting it is because I've lived all my life like that: high tech, high energy... and surrounded by people with great attitude to get things done (and if not, you push 'em there.) I'm glad you get to experience it. It's awesome. Stick with it and the sky is the limit.
Oh very interesting! We should trade lives for a while! I am here immersed in the tech world only to make poems out of it and you are the pastoral adventurer out of silicon sight 😂
Actually I think that you can benefit from the environment much more than I!
yes, attachment in general is something to be wary of; especially in the financial domain, where people make so many mistakes from acting emotionally and impulsively rather than rationally and responsibly.
obviously attachment is a human emotion, I suspect most people who claim complete detachment are actually simplifying the situation, whether to boast or simply inspire: they feel some attachments, but are not ruled by that feeling. given enough time, it weakens in comparison to other drives.
you might be one of the lucky few who genuinely have less of it!
an afterthought: zen master @siggy47 might like this post
Thanks. Although I'm no zen master, I did enjoy your post.
I feel the same way about English. It's a cool language, and I like to use it, actually really love the stories I can make with it, and that it lets me experience, but I don't actually want to be an English speaker because of English per se. I just like what it let's me do and what others for with it.
I accept your position.
over-unity devices
Heresy! I hereby order you to surrender your cowboy hat, your seed phrases, and any orange paint you still have
a protestor who pays to comment - rather than to downzap into oblivion - maybe you are just as bad as me
For once I actually made the top spenders list and it was for downzapping 😱
And yet you still have not credibly refuted anything I wrote.
You think being part of the group trolling those who seek to challenge the herd mentality and echo chamber circles jerking is more important than questioning your beliefs through a good faith contest of ideas.
You are so insecure in your beliefs that desperately you need to be part of the group shouting down any contest of ideas...
Mhmh!
I like the song, it makes me float
Makes sense for me, money is money, you is you. I stand position in own and spread this money as moe.
I accept this as a fair position for anyone to take. Expectations are annoying.
Yeah!
You can't expect big things. If you work on faucets then it is a loser investment. Pay per zap and articles most of them low pay. Those how pay well are Vocal with Stripe. Needs to work in mining or staking or forex and avoid these low pay feature plans.
Yes I think so. You are already successful because you make art, not because you make a certain amount of money with your art :)
As an artist, this is a fair and even inspiring stance. Bitcoin becomes a medium, not a measure of worth — and that freedom comes through in your writing.
'That's how I feel about bitcoin. I like using it as money.'
But you do not have a gun so your use of LN here whenever you spend is minimal.
Some would say Hypocrisy rhymes with Poetry.
