Nostr may be an echo chamber, I have to admit. At the moment, most of the people there are bitcoiners that value decentralization and free speech. The thing is, I have zero doubt about bitcoin. I don't need other opinions on that particular topic.
And in Nostr, we all can discuss the specifics and where does bitcoin go from here. We all have lots to say on the matter. And Nostr is definitely not an echo chamber in that regard. There are all kinds of bitcoiners there.
So, let's discuss bitcoin in our private oasis before the normies get there. Which they will do, eventually.
I sure do hope it expands outside bitcoin, I could easily see it being the home of many different interest sets who never need to ever interact with bitcoin or bitcoiners.

I think that will inevitably happen. The thing is growing exponentially development-wise. It's astonishing.
As I see it today, Nostr is a winner.
But it will take time.
It will be a bitcoiner's playground for a while. Let's enjoy it.

I heard fiatjaf on an interview a little while back expressing his concern that nostr would just be about bitcoin. He felt it would prevent the growth of nostr. I worry nostr as bitcoin echo chamber will counterintuitively slow down the adoption of bitcoin. I try to tone down my maxiness on nostr. It has to be a place for diverse topics and opinions. Bitcoin is the currency. Even people who don't like or care about bitcoin want to get zapped. I think it would be best left as a payment method than for nostr to become a giant Stacker News.

I experimented with non-bitcoin topics for a few days and got zero interactions, LOL.
I don't have many followers, though. I don't know if it counts.
I agree with you completely on what Nostr has to become, but I think it will be a bitcoiners paradise for a while.
