I can't say I'm surprised (though there's at least a 50% chance that Paul's lying here, of course). Just as when you hear about football players who can't play pickup basketball or somesuch, athletes risk injuries when they play other sports.

That wouldn’t surprise me. He is under contract with WWE why would they allow him to potentially get injured in a boxing match they derive no value from?

Exactly! And I'd bet he's one of the highest paid people there, as well. No way does that not come with a bunch of clauses preventing him from ruining their investment. Especially since they probably have insurance that'll cover the contract if he gets injured in a WWE ring, but not outside of it.

I remember some years ago there was a big debate about one of the Blue Jays players getting hurt in a snowmobiling accident in the offseason and that was one of the activities he was prohibited from doing. Ultimately, he still got paid as he only had to miss a small portion of the season but I wonder what would have happened if he had to be out for the whole year.
