Art is the ultimate challenge. Can I continue to transcend my own mistakes? Can I look at my ugliness and still move forward?

There are many ways to make the creative endeavour easier. Giving myself room to fail and improve helps. In painting Grace Jones I learned that it's okay to simply try again. The first free hand picture was not bad in how it came out, but it didn't resemble Grace at all. So, I just painted her again and the result was much better.

This self-advice sounds so simple. But previously I'd just stop drawing or move on to the next subject. Trying again is a much better idea.

Art, in the end, is the art of failing well.
