I didn't read that deeply, it's quite a rambly text, but I'm quite surprised that from a guy who has written extensively about horizontal scaling of network systems he doesn't mention grass roots stuff of which systems like Bittorrent, Bitcoin and Nostr do towards eliminating platforms and the inevitable evolution towards protocols designed to further increase horizontal relationships in markets and dissolve vertical ones.
Every solution he offers is based on changes in government policy in a direction that is diametrically opposite to the trend for the last 120 years or so. Not gonna happen that way. Fiat collapse will force horizontal, protocol based systems to replace platforms and steadily erode the largesse of the power structures.

If the problems that he complains about can actually be solved, what is he going to do? There would be nothing left to complain about, and he earns a living out of complaining.
