weird the sats/$ widget up top seems to be broken....

We started proxying coinbase requests on the backend to hide stackers' ip addresses. They might've blocklisted us.

Is much better without the price ticker. Now you could replace it with the block height.

Electricity prices in europe has crashed.

Was this expected? Curious as to the reason for this with everyone predicting the apocalypse a few months ago...

I guess the market has been really good at reducing demand

Hey gang, I was home for pretty much the whole week and I apologize, profoundly. But had to prepare exams for my students and had some coaching to do in the afternoons but that's not here nor there, I wish you a phenomenal weekend and that this day gives you lots of positive energy and most of all make you smile. Enjoy it and Carpe Diem. Be well and stay frosty my good friend.

Who wakes up and checks the mempool?
reply
only onchain maxis 😂
reply
I also have it display LN capacity, Darth 😂
My favorite feature is no longer working and that was % issued. I loved watching the total supply slowly increase but now it's all just a bunch of "------" 😭
reply
I have the number of blocks in the mempool displayed on my Block Clock so while I don't "check" the mempool when I wake up, I see it all throughout the day.
reply
What about fees
reply
I used to display the feerate but the block clock can only show the highest feerate and I almost never broadcast txs, so I don't have it displayed atm.
I either check mempool if I need to broadcast but I use Sparrow which shows the feerate for high priority txs when I am building a transaction so it's not as important to check as often as I used to.
How about you?
reply
Yep because I mine and I like to keep an eye on how much the network is being used

the tips on stacker news are really picking up lately… all the top posts today have at least 500 sats, and lots have over 1,000 sats.

yup, kind of fun to keep an eye on the rewards pool growing

It might be like the bitcoin tx fee market.
So if I can tip 10 sats and it ends up on the front page, why would I tip 50? But once a small tip doesn't move the needle, a bidding war essentially erupts for your tip to help the ranking.
Or maybe there's some other reason, who knows.

Maybe it will change going forward but I get a lot more out of Stacker News than I do through Nostr. PS I didn’t know you could lose your cowboy hat!

better hang onto that new cowboy hat you’ve got there 🤠

I agree. That's why I'm not really too upset about my screw up. I am optimistic about nostr as it develops, though.

I didn’t know you could delete your Nostr data. Do you lose all your followers and posts? I thought once you supply your pubkey that all gets uploaded from whatever server is hosting….as I say this I realize I have no idea how it works….
reply
That's what I thought. I was using iris on a web browser. I have secured my pub/private keys. I noticed (after the fact) that iris settings has a "backup" section where you can download and save a json file with your profile data and followers. A second option allows you to save your events. I did neither. I guess all my stuff is floating out there on relays somewhere, but I can't access it.

I get the award for bonehead move of the day. I forgot to back up my nostr data and cleared the cache on my browser. This is I think the 3rd time I'm starting over on nostr. On the plus side, I don't make the same mistakes I did the first and second time.

Gotta get that private relay backup
