There are people who see you struggle and walk away. It is too much for them. And there are others who see you fight and come closer. They do not come to save you because they can't. But they come to stand with you. They take some of the weight. They say, “I’m here,” and that is enough.
You do not see these people when things are easy. You see them when you are close to breaking. When your strength is thin. When the ground does not hold. They are there then. They catch you before you fall, do not ask questions, do not make terms, do not count the cost. They just stay. That is why they are rare friends.
I was lucky to have a friend like her these past months. I was in a hard place. I didn't expect it. Some of my friends that I considered close friends walked away. Bet she stayed close. She helped me get through it. Not by fixing things. Just by being there. It made it easier to carry. She was a blessing to me. I hope I can be there for her one day. I don’t wish hardship on her. But if it comes, I hope I stand beside her the way she stood beside me.

My fiance is one who is always there for me. We just started living together while traveling and we've been at it for close to 6 months now. The past month or so has been a bit hard for the both of us for a few reasons but one of them comes from being away from friends. The friends like you mentioned that we both know have our backs no matter what and are simply there, present when we need them to be. Having such friends is an immense blessing, and I do not for one moment take it for granted!
But in terms of recently, going through a lot in a little time I'm forever grateful for my love for being next to me.
