I had a dream yesterday night:

"Had to play in a play where I was a goth transvestite with my ex, but I was not her boyfriend, I was a neighbor.

When I woke up I was shocked. This relationship has been over for 10 years, but my ex (she was a goth btw) she appears often in my dreams. This was perhaps the most revealing dream I ever had about her. The pattern is always that she's very distant in the dream, and I can't get to her, or she's abandoned me.

I met an acquaintance on the street today and I told him this dream. He didn't have anything to add but I said that, "well, you can't have it any clearer than that, now can you? I was playing a role in that relationship, it was theater.

There's often people who doubt the meaning of dreams, but I've been keeping a database on mine for the last couple of years and I've become quite aware of some patterns I'm having. This one with my ex is stating exactly what it is, it was theater, it was inauthentic. The fact of the matter is that that's just very hard to accept. Very painful. Hence the shock when I woke up.

I rang my stepdad today and he confirmed that I behaved like that around her.

So funny. I have never talked about my ex with anyone. I was really ashamed about this abandonment.
But now I feel liberated. I've always idealized her. But from today on I can't anymore. Stuff was not okay in that relationship which I couldn't admit before. But now I can. And it's a relief.

It is common for indigenous tribes to share your dreams, so I'm posting this here as I believe it's a good idea to adopt that culture. Helps with my processing. Thank you.

I’m impressed that you have managed to keep your dream journal alive for ten years

Oh, no. Only for about 4 years.
But we broke up 10 years ago.

Yeh, i throw it all in Notion. I can label all the dreams so I can sort them to find similar dreams. Very useful.

Notion is the easy non-coding version of Obsidian.

Sounds like your mind finally closed the chapter.

Onward you go.

reply

There might be other aspects that need looking into, but this is definitely a breakthrough. Thank you.

Dreams hitting you with the truth 10 years later. Wild how the subconscious keeps receipts.

reply

It's magnificent. At least when you're willing to investigate it. I had these dreams for a while without really looking into them. I just remained hurt and ashamed.
