I submitted an essay to “Edukas Eesti” (Successful Estonia) essay competition, organized annually by Äripäev (Estonia's only business news outlet) pointing out:
the fact that there is no wealthy nation with a low energy consumption
that we, as a nation, would need a nuclear power plant to significantly improve our energy independence and prices
that the baseload consumption of the grid (and potentially part of the power plant's production costs) could be covered by AI data centers and Bitcoin mining (mitigating perverse situations where energy cost drops to zero or negative)
Naturally, I didn't make it among the 13 finalists and the winning piece was about a "voluntary defense league of Estonian enterprises”
So yeah, Germans (unfortunately) aren't the only ones around Europe who have completely lost it.
