New Zealand trades with whomever it is able to- it is USA dictating to other nations who they can and cannot trade with because USA cannot compete with China and wants to cling to its petrodollar as long as it can because without the petrodollar USA will be insolvent and humiliated.
USA has admitted its no longer competitive in terms of trade by trying to introduce tariffs and sanctions, which all failed, and so is now using military aggression in a last ditch attempt to preserve the dying petrodollar.
