US Route 89, often called the National Parks Highway, provides access to ten national parks by connecting directly or via short detours. These parks, generally traversed from south to north, are:
- Grand Canyon National Park (Arizona)
- Petrified Forest National Park (Arizona)
- Zion National Park (Utah)
- Bryce Canyon National Park (Utah)
- Capitol Reef National Park (Utah)
- Canyonlands National Park (Utah)
- Arches National Park (Utah)
- Grand Teton National Park (Wyoming)
- Yellowstone National Park (Wyoming/Montana)
- Glacier National Park (Montana)
