We are looking for a Bitcoin/ Lightning network enthusiast with background in mathematics, computer science or related fields to conduct research on improving algorithms for multipath payment pathfinding within the Lightning network. The candidate will work towards a Ph.D. in computer science. We offer full tuition support and and employment as a research assistant.

Requirements

Applicants should have a bachelor's or master's degree (or expect to receive the degree before enrollment at UNC Charlotte) in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, Electrical Engineering or related disciplines.

Desired qualifications

• Strong knowledge of multivariate calculus, linear algebra
• Background and/or interest in continuous optimization
• Familiarity with the technologies underlying Bitcoin and/or the Lightning network
