Three groups ended the first round last night. Two of the host countries successfully achieved a spot in the last 32 round. Mexico won the three matches in Group A, somewhat unexpected if I am honest, as I was expecting a better performance from South Korea and a completely different outcome for Czech Republic, that was eliminated in this group. South Africa ended up second and will play against Canada.

The other host country playing last night, Canada, could not beat Switzerland and will play in the US due to finishing second in the group. Manzambi keeps surprising me. Bosnia finished third with 4 points and will most likely qualify for the last 32 round.

Finally, in Group C, there were no surprises with Brazil finishing at the top after beating Scotland 3-0 (Vinicius (2) and Cunha). Morocco also beat Haiti finishing second. Scotland will need to wait for other results.

Tonight, 6 more games and 3 groups to be decided. In Group D, USA will try to copy and paste Mexicans winning the three games in the first round against Türkiye. Then Paraguay and Australia will fight for the second place.

In Group D, with Germany already qualified, Ivory Coast, Ecuador and Curaçao all have chances to reach the next round.

Finally, in Group E, Tunisia is already eliminated but the rest of the teams have possibilities to reach the top spot. Netherlands may have an easier match against Tunisia. Japan and Sweden will fight each other.
