My thought is something far simpler (I think..and I am no coder so may not be the case):

Simply a way to include in the alias bip 353 a silent payment field that the user can input the silent payment address into(but specific to the alias). So, that when the alias is published that address would be included and wallets with the ability to send to silent payment addresses would hopefully be able to find the address and use it from the bip 353 address.

For example, I have the alias bonjour@thatwhichisnotseen.st that I use and it'd be great if that included a silent payment address in there too.

The example I would compare it to is this bip 353 experiment -- www.twelve.cash. Here is their github -- https://github.com/ATLBitLab/twelvecash

Especially useful in 'privacy mode'...if i were to be able to create an alias that has just a bolt12 offer and silent payment address that would be an awesome step in bitcoin towards users having an easy way to receive payments privately both on-chain and on lightning.

You mean just manually adding a silent payment address to the alias page? So you can share it? This would be just a field for entering a normal bitcoin address, right? That should be easy. Would make it optional.

correct, that's what I was thinking.
