Tough match between Portugal and Spain. A tactical one that some people could call it boring. However, it was on line with previous matches between these two teams. They know each other really well. In the first half, Spain had 3 opportunities. Portuguese GK did two incredible saves to Baena and Lamine. Oyarzabal sent it a bit to the right when he was alone. Nuno Mendes hit the bar after a corner kick.

Lamine hardly could attack yesterday, with Nuno Mendes defending him, once again, really well. Pedri was less accurate than usual and Oyarzabal looked a bit lost. Fortunately, Rodri remind me to the one who played 2 years ago, when he won the Ballon d'Or.

The second half was even more tactical and everything was pointing out to an extra time. At 90 minutes, Merino suffered a foul in the middle of Portugal side. He passed the ball to Fabian, who touch it once to Rodri. He saw Ferran and send a short, quick pass to him. He oriented the ball in 2 touches leaving Merino alone in front of Diogo Costa and sent the ball to the net. Spain held the result the last 8 minutes and qualified fo the next round.

It was, most likely, Cristiano Ronaldo's last match in a World Cup. He did not play a good match, though he kept trying until the end.

In the other match, Belgium thrashed USA 4-1 after all the controversial Balogun's red card suspension. De Ketelaere scored twice, assisted by Trossard in both occasions. Kevin de Bruyne did not play a minute and Lukaku scored again.

Interesting match between Belgium and Spain this coming Friday.

Tonight, Argentina will seek QFs against Egypt. It would be a huge surprise that the Pharaons could eliminate the South Americans.

In the last match of this round, Colombia will face Switzerland, where the "Cafeteros" are the favorites.
