Let's face it. The IOC is corrupt and never cared about Ukraine. They did what they thought was politically expedient without being too punitive to Russia. They don't want to cut ties completely with Russia. I am sure they would happily take Oligarch money to have another olympics in Sochi.

About 60% of Russian athletes are active Russian military personnel. They're legal military targets and Ukraine would be entirely justified killing them.

Not so likely to actually happen at the Olympics. But maybe.

Batshit decision from the IOC. If Russian athletes want to compete, they can defect and leave Russia. As it is, about half of their tax revenue is going to the invasion of Ukraine. That alone is evil enough.
