I've heard people mention having their phone looked through when traveling internationally (ie entering a country they are not a citizen of). is best practice to remove those apps before the airport / security screenings ? Any other tips for phone hygiene ?

My level-1 trick is to just turn it off. If questioned or whatever, refuse to turn on/enter PINs

setup a burner phone is just too much work for a simple trip imo. way easier to just use a duress pin or hide the apps in a secure folder if you are that worried. going full spy mode for a flight is overkill.
