I respect what the Atlanta Bitcoin crew built there; however, it makes me a little sad to see yet another pivot to AI from the Atlanta crowd.
I know that many people think Bitcoin needs to appeal to the masses and that AI is really cool and the future #1521176 but let's stick with the Bitcoin thing a little longer folks.
AI doesn't promise freedom the same way Bitcoin does. There's no axiom of resistance for AI. #1292558
Bitcoin is money. Money is boring. Make Bitcoin Boring Again. I don't mind a regression in the hype tbh. Makes some space for real solutions, not the bulk of crap that we've seen the past 3 years.
Wanna develop one? There not being one written down inside a little book we know of doesn't mean that there cannot be one.
I think that sovereign LLMs / VLMs / vector dbs and other pattern recognition stuff we generally numerate under "AI", can - with some work - definitely be an equalizer to reduce asymmetry between the pleb and the state or the small org vs the big org, as it can generally augment capability. It all depends on how you use it.
Note that for my daily work, with nearly no tuning, codex oss + glm-5.2 beats Claude Opus 4.8 at 0.1x the cost with remote inference. That is also an open source stack that could be ran fully sovereign, and it is beating a 3 month old frontier model valuated at a trillion shitcoins.
Even if everything gets locked down today, you can have that model just download it and run it (given you have some proper hardware) infinitely. The capabilities it provides today are not going to go away. These capabilities are no joke and as long as you (are learning to) use it wisely you can get a lot more done, for just some electricity.
So I think that while maybe the popularized use of AI where you need to suck CEO and government pipi for access and get milked for all your sats is not really something that inspires resistance, but that doesn't mean that the technology cannot be used for resistance. In fact, I think that you can do whatever the fuck you want with AI. Just gotta free yourself of the slave mindset.
